80s Ladies Week: Nothing Comes Between me and my... L'Oreal HIP Liner.

In the early 80s, back even before Banana Republic boasted a safari theme and stores were adorned with Jeeps and giraffes, there was Jordache, Sassoon, Sergio Valente, and, obv, Calvin Klein.

The inspired product is L'Oreal HIP Color Rich Cream Eyeliner in Midnight Blue ($12). It's a rich, designer jeans blue, most akin to a superhero hue. Perhaps even a Voltron blue. Like the D jeans trend itself, it lasts a while. Its creamy texture allows for ease of application, while the high intensity pigments deliver true color deposit. It comes with its own slanty brush for professional application.

Strictly Volume

Hey, gals!

I just got back from my friend Bonnie's wedding in DC, an automobile ride (from DC to Philly) and a train (Am(b)trak - Philly to NYC) ride later. I had a phenom time with my high school gals, Lee, Ang, and AlliSAN at the wedding. Storytime: I once convinced an entire high school house party that my friend Allison is half Japanese (she very clearly is NOT - she's of Swedish decent, mmkay?) and that they must call her AlliSAN and bow their heads when addressing her out of respect. Anywho, AlliSAN now is a mother of two and lives in NEBRASKA so it had been a full five years since I'd seen her! It was great to catch up.

I forgot to pack my faux lashes, a wedding standby, for the event. Luckily for me, I DID remember to pack my new fave mascara for SERIOUS volume, Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express. I love it because it's a wetter mascara and it really does give the illusion of added lashes. If it's length you're looking for, keep searching. But if you're seeking volume, you've come to the right place. Two coats yields a blacker-than-black fringe. And I'm LOVING the yellow and purple packaging. Supercute. Hits stores July 1st!

Natch, I was selected as executive makeup putter-oner for Bonnie (the bride) and Anne (the maid of honor). On both girls, I used my fave lasts ALL NIGHT LONG eyeliner, Bobbi Brown Longwearing Gel Eye Liner in Graphite Shimmer Ink. This shade is a deep, shimmery charcoal grey, great for my two "clients" as neither are big makeup wearers and would have felt is if they were playing dress up wearing straight-up black liner. I also used BeneFit's Posie Tint on both gals' cheeks and lips for long-lasting pretty pinkness. I also used it on myself, as I was rocking a kelly green dress and thought it would be fun to go Lilly Pulitzer on this partay, as I was in Pastel and Pearl Country.

What's your favorite makeup item to wear to a wedding? Tell me in the comments!

No Need to Compromise, Even if you Have Sensitive Eyes

I wear contacts because I am totally skeeved out/squeamish to the max about anything having to do with eyes. The idea of LASIK surgery makes me so nauseated. But, the beauty downside of all that is that a lot of regular eye makeup irritates my contacts. When I wear more eye makeup, say, for a night out or a black tie event, the potential for contact irritation increases.

To ensure my eyes will look fly as opposed to red and irritated, I've been on a major Clinique kick as their products are ALWAYS allergy tested and fragrance free. My favorite event eye look lately includes their Brush-On Cream Liner in Bronze, $14.50. This color is LIMITED EDITION, dolls, so stock up. The formula is long-wearing and looks absolutely gorge on green- and blue-eyed girls. I am loving it applied with a larger brush (although it comes with its own which is divine for lining) up to the crease for a smoky eye.

I've been pairing the liner with Clinique Lash Power Long Wearing Formula. Like the liner, it's ophthalmologist tested and even wears for 24 hours with nary a smudge. It vows to last through rain, sweat, humidity, and tears, yet removes easily with warm water. I can attest this is true, girls. I rocked it to my coworker's father's funeral a few weeks ago (tragic situation, he died very suddenly) and this stuff stayed the course. Reasonably priced at $14.

Elizabeth Arden's Bronze Look 2008 Spring Collection

I am loving the EA spring collection, diva dollfaces. I'm so glad the brand has contributed to the world of gel liners with their new Color Intrigue™ Gel Eyeliner with Brush. It comes in two wearable shades: Bronze Pearl and Black Pearl. Each comes with its own eyeliner brush (memo to makeup companies: I think EVERY gel liner should come with its own brush!) and applies smoothly to create a subtle or dramatic look. I am loving the Bronze Pearl shade. It's a gorgeous jewel-toned streak of definition that lightens up my look for spring and yet still makes my eyes pop. The packaging is also to die.
