There's a reason Dina and I own no fewer than 20 identical pieces of clothing/accessories (many of them were my purchases inspired by hers; I'm not even embarr by it)--her style is straight-up covetable. She discusses her fashion and beauty lusts and musts over at Eye4Style. But here? She shares her Five Rules For Life. Read on and be illuminated. In Dina's words:
1. Smile, if only for selfish reasons.
I mean, according to SCIENCE, the mere act of smiling will lift your spirits, but if that's not good enough for you, remember that a smile opens doors that frowns won't.
2. Don't wear anything, ever, that you'd be ashamed to be seen in by your crush.
That doesn't mean you can't wear sweatpants or a t-shirt, just that anything you put on your body should be thoughtfully considered. As Bill Cunningham once said, " "Fashion is the armor to survive everyday life." Don't forget it.
3. Invest in experiences, not things.
Now, don't get me wrong. I like THINGS as much as the next girl, perhaps more - I even started an entire blog devoted to my love of things, oh, 6 1/2 years ago. But people and experiences will enrich you in ways that things can't, even things like the Givenchy Rottweiler Antigona Tote that so eludes me at the mo'.
4. If you wouldn't buy it at full price, don't buy it on sale.
The rare exceptions in my book are party dresses or season-specific merch found at sample sales or on deep clearance. Assuming you have the closet space, tuck them away until you need them - it'll make shopping your closet a thrill.
5. Attractiveness often comes down to grooming.
If you don't believe me, just look at Jennifer Aniston. Her raw material? Perfectly average. But we could all learn a thing or two from her commitment to fitness, healthy eating habits and extraordinarily good grooming.
