Credit: People.com
Non-asshole Natalie Portman, winner for best actress for her role in Black Swan and the face of Miss Dior Cherie, looked chic and sophisticated in Dior Beauty at the SAG Awards in Los Angeles last night.

Makeup artist Eileen Kastner-Delago created a look inspired by "Old Hollywood with a modern twist" for Portman. "I wanted to give her dewy, glowing skin and slightly smokey eyes with a natural lip color," said Kastner-Delago.

Here's the makeup breakdown used for Natalie Portman:

Funny gal Tina Fey switched it up last night at the 2011 SAG Awards in favor of a show-stopping, strapless Oscar de la Renta gown complimented by a simple, chic side chignon.

The high-glam, low maintenance bun is easy to create at home – we got the lowdown straight from her stylist, Remington’s Richard Marin:

Men Rock Calvin Klein Collection At The 2011 SAG Awards

Just got some scoop that Calvin Klein Collection wardrobed the following several leading men last night for their appearances at The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. So if you want to drop a subtle hint to help your man look just that much more like Jon Hamm, casually point him in the direction of this post, 'kay?

Jon Hamm, a presenter for the evening, wore a Calvin Klein Collection black wool two-button peak lapel tuxedo, white shirt, and black tie.

Get The Look: Mila Kunis At The 2011 SAG Awards

Mila Kunis boasted a personal beauty best last night at the 2011 SAG Awards in my profesh opinion. Loved her Alexander McQueen gown, loved her softly waved glamazon hairstyle, a true trend of the evening.  TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak, who styled her hair for the event, shares how to re-create the look in a few simple steps.

Get The Look: Sofia Vergara At The 2011 SAG Awards

Sofia Vergara was created by celebrity makeup artist Kayleen McAdams (and sister of Rachel McAdams). Says Kaleen, "We wanted to create a Brigitte Bardot inspired beauty look with a lot of lashes and a glamorous smoky eye. It was a classic Sofia beauty look, but just amped up a bit.

Get The Look: Amber Riley At The 2011 SAG Awards

Amber Riley's pretty makeup concept was created by celebrity makeup artist Mylah Morales. Inspired by Amber's super chic hair and gorgeous Anne Barge dress, Mylah created a bold look focused on Amber's fuchsia lips.

Get The Look: Christina Hendricks At The 2011 SAG Awards

Christina Hendricks' dramatic makeup look for the 2011 SAG Awards was created by celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali. Vanessa was inspired by Brigitte Bardot's black smoky eyes and nude face. "So, we went in this direction but softened the look for the red carpet by using a creamy, shimmery shadow in gunmetal.  This gives the eye shadow a transparent quality that makes the look very strong but also very modern.

Get The Look: Julia Stiles At The 2011 SAG Awards

Julia Stiles' 2011 SAG Awards magical mauve-focused makeup look was created by celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey. "I was really inspired by her gorgeous flowing dress so we wanted the beauty look to work with the effortless, 'rich hippie' look," explained Jake.

Using products from the new Spring 2011 launches, Spencer wanted “to play up and define Angie’s eyes while balancing her golden-olive skin-tone with soft pinks.”

New From Bobbi Brown: Rich Lip Color SPF 12

Friday, January 28, 2011

Bobbi Brown’s new lightweight, color-saturated formula for lips created with colorless base, Rich Lip Color SPF 12, showcases the true color of pigments--so what you see is what you get. Somehow that's not as much the norm for cosmetics as you'd think, right, gals?

Fictionary: Primpin' All Over The World

Fictionary is a column showcasing beauty-related words that don't exist, but should.

I know I sound like a HUGE hypocrite, but though I've devoted my lifestyle to hair and makeup maintenance, I get IRATE when I see women in the ladies' room at work at my financial gig just HANGING the eff out doing their hair and makeup.

And I'm not talking about a quick do-I-look-okay-no-I'll-fix-this-errant-hair kind of way that takes just a few minutes. I'm talking about those douche bs who bring their entire makeup bag or heat tool/brush combo and start glamping out in a public restroom in a corporate setting and start going to town. What IS that about? Take care of your hair and makeup at HOME, corporate women of the world. That's what your home is THERE for. Don't start Primpin' All Over The World. Why would you want to lug all that with you? If you're going on a hot date post-work, I can understand. A gal's got limited resources. But during the hours of 9 and 5, I don't want to see you in the bathroom establishing residency.

Los Angeles In A Bottle: Royal Apothic Bathe Body Lotion in City Of Angels Review

LA vs. NYC: I maintain there's usually no question as to which is the better city--but this winter has me feeling a little less on Team Gotham. The pace trumps the weather for me, but after several blizzes and rocking my Sporto boots 98% of the time in the last month (memo to Mother Nature--I'd like to wear my heels once before spring thaw, mmkay?) I have to admit that the City of Angels is the place to be in January 2011. Unfortunately my business slash travel plans don't include southern CA, so I'm turning to my new fave body moisturizer, which captures the left coast's essence beautifully. Royal Apothic Bathe Body Lotion in City of Angels ($22) boasts gorge packaging, first off. The backstory: When British Royal Apothic founder Sean O’Mara first moved from England to LA, he was taken with the singularly intoxicating scent he discovered driving through the Hollywood Hills. Since creating his epic brand (inspired by an 18th century apothecary manual he discovered at an antique shop), he figured out a way to bottle the signature LA fragrance by incorporating the scent of a fresh sea breeze with eucalyptus (MY FAVE note), night blooming jasmine and an ozone note for that City of Angels hint of smog.

Get The Look: Liv Tyler At The 2011 Sundance Film Festival

Monday, January 24, 2011

This just in...

Creighton Bowman created Liv Tyler’s hairstyle for the premiere of her new thriller The Ledge at Sundance last Friday.

“On towel dried hair, I applied Condition Naturelle by Leonor Greyl from root to end, combined with the new Leonor Greyl Lait Luminescence Bi-Phase detangling milk. Using a blow-dryer on a low setting, I wrapped her hair around my fingers, creating soft natural waves. Once fully dried, I used a couple of drops of Serum De Soie Sublimateur to finish her style with lots of shine and total frizz control.”

Travel Blogging Junkie: Hyatt Escala in Park City, Utah

This past weekend at The Sundance Film Festival 2011, L'Oreal Paris put us up at the rustic-chic Hyatt Escala in Park City, Utah. Set away from the downtown area of the city, this new hotel boasts charming mountain-view balconies, sick amounts of space and multiple electric fireplaces (my favorite part of the experience). This city gal was a little scared of the spacious, remote enclave aspect of it all (the decor of the joint reminded me of the house in Scream where many of the characters meet their respective dooms) when coming home late at night. But the service was wonderful, there's a shuttle that takes you to most locations of Park City throughout the day and it's perfect for ski enthusiasts. I saw many, though I am not one myself.

Check out the video below for a tour of my room.

The site I mentioned is Sushi with my Girls. It's my new fave site.

So the other night, I attended a Clairol event for their new Nice n' Easy Color Blend Foam held at color connoisseur Marie Robinson's Flatiron District salon. More on that in an upcoming post, but what I want to share is the delight of a Swedish hair product I discovered when one of Marie's stylists blew out my friend Lauren's hair (she volunteered to be colored for the event). It's called Ref Ocean Mist/303 ($18), and it's not sold anywhere in the U.S. but at Marie Robinson.

Anne Hathaway's 2011 Golden Globes Nail Polish

Monday, January 17, 2011

Credit: People.com

Thank goodness for Twitter!

When I tweeted about one of my favorite looks of the night being the epic beauty that was Anne Hathaway, the inimitable Deborah Lippmann responded to me the following:

@deborahlippmann @glambr I was lucky to do Anne Hathaways nails and toes in I Dreamed You. Fab with her iridescent Armani sequined gown.

This starry opalescent pink beautifully complimented Anne's rose gold sequined sleeved backless moment.

Thanks for sharing, Deborah!

Get The Look: Sandra Bullock At The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Sandra Bullock's Emily The Strange bangs moment was a win in the unhumble opinion of moi, even if it was hotly debated amongst my Twitter friends. Here's how to get her fierce fringed hairstyle.

The 60s took the lead on Sandra Bullock's look with creating a full bang and textured ends.

Get The Look: Megan Fox At The 2011 Golden Globes

Megan Fox irocked an Armani Prive gown and soft old-Hollywood waves at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards last night. Want to recreate her Veronica Lake hairstyle at home? Here's how to do it.

Hairstylist Andy Lecompte started by applying Phyto Professional Intense Volume Mousse before blow drying. He set her hair using a 3/4-inch barrel curling iron and then pin curls. Once he released the pin curls, Lecompte brushed out her hair and gave the hair a deep side part.

Get The Look: Tina Fey At The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Best Actress nominee and presenter Tina Fey was stunning at last night’s Golden Globe Awards in a navy L’Wren Scott gown and a chic updo. The velvet column dress and curly chignon channeled elegant, old Hollywood glamour. Here, the secrets to achieve this gorgeous look straight from her stylist, Remington's Richard Marin:

Get The Look: Olivia Wilde At The 2011 Golden Globes

Dolls, what did we think about superhumanly beautiful Olivia Wilde's look at the 2011 Golden Globes? Here's my rundown: LOVED Olivia Wilde's Marchesa dress. DREAM about the dress. Love the shoes, but not WITH said dress. Liked the hair, but for a more casual jaunt, not necessarily the Golden Globes. And adored the makeup, which complimented Olivia's light brunette locks perfectly.

Get The Look: Julianne Moore At The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Julianne Moore looked radiant on the red carpet of the 2011 Golden Globe Awards in a dazzling pink Lanvin dress (though admittedly, said dress could have used a steamer). Makeup artist Pati Dubroff chose to stay within the pink family creating contrasting hues on the eye lids (soft pink) and deep, rich blackberry on the lips for the ravishing redhead.

Skin:
Dubroff started with Clarins Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate to fill any fine lines on the skin and create an even canvas. She then applied the Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Rose Shimmer along her cheekbones for glowing skin that did not cover her freckles. Next, she swept a small amount of Blush Prodige in Miami Pink on the apples of her cheeks.

Get The Look: Elisabeth Moss At The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Way to go, Elisabeth Moss, showing up looking fierce not long after her unfortunate divorce with SNL's Fred Armisen. Celebrity makeup artist Lauren Kaye Cohen created her look. In Lauren's words, here's how to recreate the look:

Get The Look: Piper Perabo At The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Piper Perabo has long been a BBJ fave since she starred in our favorite guilty pleasure movies Coyote Ugly. Her hair in the flick was simply the stuff of dreams. Piper rocked a gorge makeup concept on the red carpet at the 2011 Golden Globes last night, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Troy Surratt. In Troy's words:

Get The Look: Lea Michele At The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Dove celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend created a modern and fresh hair look for Glee's Lea Michele. “I wanted to give Lea a young and modern look. I played off the movement and ruffles of her gorgeous gown to give her a loose chignon that was all about soft, subtle glamour.”

Here’s how to get Lea Michele’s 2011 Golden Globes look:

Get The Look: Catherine Zeta Jones At The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

In the words of the sage Kristin Booker, don't you just LOVE that Catherine Zeta Jones always looks the part of a MOVIE STAR? Those barely even exist anymore. Either way, I thought she looked positively glamorous and gave the people something to admire on the red carpet. I got the scoop on everything from her makeup to her jewels. Makeup is courtesy of Brett Freedman. In his words, "Maybe I was inspired by Black Swan or maybe the dress was so regal that I thought I would give Catherine a little edge...a touch of wickedness.  Strapless emerald green is one of the most striking colors for a dress. Add to it lots of exposed skin and you've got a fashion firework! "

Get The Look: Dianna Agron At The 2011 Golden Globes

Danilo created the hair concept for Glee's Dianna Agron. The two decided on a half-up glamour set to compliment her strapless J. Mendel dress. I loved this classic Old Hollywood look on her, though the color of the dress left me a little unenthused.

“When you style hair for the red carpet you have to take into account that it must look good from every angle,” said Danilo. “I wanted her hair to have the ability to be undone, have movement, and be shiny, but didn’t want her to worry about it all night which is why a half-up style was the perfect choice.” Although she was out the door before he knew it, Danilo thought of the style – “It was very simple, very pretty hair that was clean, contemporary Hollywood glamour.”

Here’s how to re-create Dianna’s hairstyle:

Get The Look: Emma Stone At The Golden Globes

Emma Stone's look, to me, was best characterized as Malibu Barbie meets Hitchcock Heroine. The starlet is still uber-blonde thanks to her role as Gwen Stacy in Spiderman. While I live for her red locks, her blonde hair is growing on me and I love how glam her makeup concept was, though I thought her peach dress was a little meh. Here's the breakdown on how to get Emma Stone's red carpet look, courtesy of Mai Quynh for mark cosmetics.

Get The Look: January Jones At The 2011 Golden Globes

I know it was a hotly debated topic, but for the record, I was PRO January Jones showing off her own Golden Globes. She looked hot in that dress, and managed to pull of something risque with aplomb. Her makeup was especially fierce last night. Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin worked with Chanel cosmetics.

Here, the beauty breakdown, in Rachel's words.

Get The Look: Anne Hathaway At The 2011 Golden Globes

LORD did Anne Hathaway get it right this time at the 2011 Golden Globes. The glossy, glossy mane.
