Darlings, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was sooo bad/good in that way that only vampire fiction adapted to the silver screen can be. You know, like the French have belle-laide? The Twilight franchise has bad/good, meaning the movie is obv no Citizen Kane, but thoroughly entertained me in its sometimes ridiculous, gratuitous exploitation of boys who bring out an inner cougar I never knew I harbored. What's even more amaze than that is that I managed to HEAR the movie despite being seated with my gal Tamar and some of her fellow work friends in front of THE loudest, most obnoxious movie patron in the history of Glamerica. She was one of those people who, like motorists, who turn up their bass to the point of disturbing an entire neighborhood under the false delusion they're doing them a favor by sharing their "great" music taste, provided an unsolicited commentary of every single scene at a booming level. She shared her completely moronic viewpoint with everyone so that we had to strain to hear the dialogue. She also, in case there's a single person on the isle of Manhattan who didn't hear, is on Team Edward. Anywho. Let's start with what I liked about the movie.
P.S. In case you missed it, check out my thoughts on Twilight and New Moon.

Oh, The Womanity: Thierry Mugler's New Fragrance
Treading the line between gorgeously chic and the ever-so-slightly unsavory is a uniquely French talent and no one does that as well as Thierry Mugler (pronounced Moo-glair. You're welcome). In his latest scent, which took four years to create, he combines a pretty cra combo of citrus, fig and caviar. Decadently bizarre, n'est-ce pas? Now, I never met a fig scent I didn't like, and the latest from Muges (as I like to affectionately refer to him in my head), called Womanity, is no exception.

Kristen Stewart Dyes Her Hair Strawberry Blonde
Kristen Stewart recently traded her signature dusky locks for a lightened, strawberry blonde hairstyle, thanks to colorist Marie Robinson. Did you know that Kristen Stewart is actually a natural blonde? I think the lighter hair looks fabulous on her. Read on for how to get her look at the New York premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Summer Makeup Tips, Courtesy of Carmindy
Dolls, the other day I attended an event where my gal Carmindy showcased the latest and greatest from her Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy line. It has to be said: This line is actually my FAVE drugstore brand. The formulations are so luxe, the colors so natural and wearable that items from it make up quite a large ratio of my ever-growing makeup bag. Best of all, it's even paraben-free and full of natural botanicals to benefit skin while helping you look your best. Here, some summer makeup tips--ranging from how to apply makeup to sunburnt skin to the perfect hot-summer-night cosmetic concept--she shared with us:

Get The Look: Kristen Stewart at the The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Premiere in Los Angeles
Friday, June 25, 2010
Kristen Stewart's hair was coiffed by her usual mane man Adir Abergel, who used Fekkai products on the starlet for the Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on June 24,2010. The inspiration: A soft take on the 1950’s pompadour.
How to get the look: Abergel started by applying the Fekkai Full Blown Volume™ Styling Whip at the roots throughout the hair. Using a round brush, Abergel blow-dried the hair away from the face, and placed it in pin curls. He allowed the hair to cool before removing the pin curls. He then styled the hair by hand raking the hair into a side pompadour securing with with pins. To shape the face, Abergel pulled a few pieces in front. To secure the look, he then applied Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night hold.
All Fekkai products are available At Fekkai.com, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue.
I have to say: I hate that dress. And the hair is kind of meh, considering how much more I've been liking her locks lately. What do you think?

Bryce Dallas Howard's (BDH, as I like to refer to her) stunning red mane looked amazing at the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse last night. For her winning red carpet look, star stylist David Babaii
created a relaxed, Bridget Bardot inspired look. Luminous waves highlighted her luxurious titian-colored hair as it was pulled back on each side, accented with a subtle beehive with shiny, healthy beautiful hair cascading sensually down her back. Babaii released several strands to strategically fall forward and frame Bryce's face for a modern 60s effect.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in 5 Review

This product actually just sent me on this totally fakakta approach to this blog entry--the complete WRONG one. Allow me to explain: I noticed other people talking about Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams ($22) being for your eyes and I totes got confused as I've been using Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in 5 (peach with gold flecks--it is such a warm, gorge shade) on my cheeks. Naturally. [Do yourself a favor and get involved with this long-lasting gilded apricot cream that imparts intense color payoff without making you look like a clown. Just slightly bashful and summery.] Not that it would be ridiculous to rock peach shadow. It would look nauseating on me, but I could see it as quite a refreshing look on someone with darker skin. Anywho. I thought to myself I am such a rebel. I've been using something designed for my EYES on my cheeks.
Official Mascara Correspondent: Tube Your Lash Mascara Review
Thursday, June 24, 2010
BBJ's intrepid Official Mascara Correspondent Ashleigh Ciucci is back with this week's lash extender: Tube Your Lash. Here, her review:
I'm a fan of tube technology mascaras and was anxious to see what this fluffier-than-normal brush would do. Usually, a small brush allows for individual lash application of the polymer formula. The first coat was wispy but didn't do much for definition at the lashline. When I tried to apply a second coat, I got instant clumps to the point where I needed to comb through with a lash comb. Even after the comb, my lashes looked spiky and artificial.
I will say that it was great on my lower lashes; they looked soft and defined but not too intense. Also, there was no under-eye smudge mid-day.
This formula washes off with soap and water (keep in mind that the "tubes" of polymer will slide off into the sink. It will look like your lashes are falling out, but don't fret!). I was happy with my bottom lashes but that's not enough to make me want to buy this baby.

My body cleansing/exfoliating/moisturizing ritual has experienced a coup, thanks to Eight Body Moisture's heavenly-scented Ginger Lime line. The suite of products also comes in a Lavender iteration as well, but trust me on this: The Ginger Lime scent is rigorously warm, clean and inviting, yet dissipates over time so that it doesn't compete with your perfume. Isn't that considerate of it? To me, it's the olfactory equivalent of cilantro--briskly refreshing.

Tweezertown, Population One
So, a couple weeks ago, I'm in the Philly 'burbs, chillaxing with my fam, S.S. Fair and my BFF since Kindergarten, Lee, at my belated family birthday party I share every year with my dad, whose birthday is the next week after mine. Later, Lee and I are driving back from dropping S.S. off back at her brother's house in the Main Line, when I notice she has a pair of tweezers in her car.
"Oh!" she exclaims. "That's for when I have to go to Tweezertown." I mean... have we met? Obviously, I'm loving this nomenclature. "Tell me more!" I shriek. "You know," explains Lee. "It's for those times when you mysteriously grow a random hair somewhere on your face that's unacceptable." Know it? Sometimes I'm the town's mayor.

Miley Cyrus' Shorter Waved Hairstyle
Miley Cyrus showed off her new shorter, wavy haircut this weekend. Hairstylist Scott Cunha of the Andy Lecompte Salon in West Hollywood, California, whose been Miley's mane man for quite some time, snipped Miley's hair into this cute 'do.

Win a 10-pack of Kitschy Bitchy Greeting Cards
It's my personal belief that most cards other than thank-you cards and sympathy cards are complete and utter bullshit. Except when they're of the kitschy bitchy variety. My gal Stef Behr (creator of Behressentials as well!) created tudify.com due to her repeated disgust with the sappy, meaningless crap spewing from overpriced greeting card monopolies. She wanted a niche for the mean, the funny, and the kitschy. My personal fave? The one to the left.
At Tudify, you can get unusually original and fabulously rude greeting cards for holidays, birthdays, weddings, breakups, hate cards and more. Stef offers package discounts and custom message options on every card in the collection. There are even color options for your envelopes: Red, blue, purple, and white. And best of all, these cards are affordable (they don't cost much more than the sappy Hallmark variety) and shipped right to your door.
Want to win a custom 10-pack of Tudify cards? The winner will simply pick any 10 cards she wants from the website. Every card has a specific title, so you can list which ones they want.
Enter by commenting here or by following me on Twitter (@glambr) and RTing Follow me and enter to win a set of 10 Tudify kitschy bitchy cards http://ow.ly/219ep. That's it. I'll choose a winner on Friday, June 25.
Good luck!

Official Mascara Correspondent: Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara
Saturday, June 19, 2010
BBJ Official Mascara Correspondent Ashleigh Ciucci delves into Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara ($14). In her words:
I'm not really a fan of rubbery brushes and that exact style of brush is what makes this mascara what it is. The formula isn't anything out of this world, but the narrow tapered rubber brush with fine bristles really gets to each individual lash. The first coat really looking like i took a needle-point lash brush and separated each individual lash. However, I waited too long for the second coat and it clumped on me. There wasn't much depth at the roots and its brittle finish didn't allow for easy touch-ups.
I would buy this mascara simply because it defines lashes like no other, but it doesn't really excite me. On the fence about this baby!

We've discussed the wonder that is eos Shave in this space before. But did you know that eos Shave is so moisturizing, you can use it wet or dry? It's the truth. Ashley Greene's Lighter Hair Hue
Ashley Greene showed off her lighter, sleek hair on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno courtesy of celebrity stylist Ted Gibson. Says Ted, “Straight hair is not for girls who are not confident with themselves. Ashley looked sexy, chic and super modern with her long newly lightened hair color.” My other mane man, Celebrity Colorist for L'Oreal Professionel at the Ted Gibson Salon Jason Backe created Ashley's caramel color.
Want to get Ashley's look at home? Ted created a solid foundation by using build it blow drying spray and hair sheet styling on wet hair. He then blew it out with a flat brush to smooth the cuticle out. He then used the ted gibson flatiron in 1 inch sections to flatten hair and give it that straightness factor. Ted followed up with tame it shine lotion, only on the ends, and beautiful hold hairspray on the top to give added gleam.
What do you think of Ashley's lightened locks? And I'm TOTALLY seeing Eclipse at midnight on June 29. Anyone else?

I've been wondering for a DOG'S AGE what kind of red lipstick The City's Roxy Olin has been wearing on the show. I thought her makeup concept in last night's episode rocked. Illamasqua Body Electrics Collection: Shadow in Imagine and Gleam Cream
Sometimes, I feel sorry for the MAVs (MAC Attack Victims) because, as fabulous as MAC is (and MAC really is genius), they don't give other makeup brands the chance they deserve and focus 99% of their content solely on that brand. It's reminiscent of college students in the '90s and their all-consuming obsesh with Dave Matthews. DMB was great--but it was the default. There were tons of other bands, many of which are life-changing.
The most salient brand MAVs gloss over (ha!) is Illamasqua, a truly spectac UK-based makeup line. Ben from the now defunct We Love Beauty blog once described it as the makeup love child of NARS and Tim Burton and he was SO right. Now, the brand has introduced its first collection of makeup for the whole body: Body Electrics. Inspired by the power of kinetic energy, the art of movement and the fluidity of the body in motion, this collection is an anthology (like the Norton Anthology) of creams, powders and dry body oils infused with light, shimmer and shine, designed to highlight and contour your bod.

Travel Blogging Junkie: Getting Foxy At Foxwoods
Some Hist: Foxwoods Circa the New Millennium
In the years 2000 and 2001, I loved nothing more than to drive down to Foxwoods (from Boston, when I was in school at Boston University) with my best dude friend (at the time) Mitch and GAMBLE. It was so exciting because we weren't yet 21. We'd drive up for the day, I'd spend an hour or three at the slot machines while Mitch was more brave and hit up the blackjack tables. When asked for ID, we'd flash our fakes. If I won, I'd immediately call my dad, thrilled to be able to gush about my winnings--my best to date was only $50. "Get the hell out of there," he'd scream. "You're not 21!" But that made it all the more fun. Then, we'd eat some delish food and head back up to Beantown. I also tried my underage hand multiple times in Atlantic City and Vegas. It only got old once I turned 21 and realized I'd rather spend my money on tangible things. Preferably those things found at Sephora.

Foxwoods Circa Now
It turns out, Foxwoods is even more fun when you don't gamble. I was invited back up to Foxwoods for the weekend, my 2010 self was psyched to discover how much else the revamped space has to offer. I had a phenomenal weekend enjoying the restaurants, clubs, spa and New Kids on the BLOCK concert, which just happened to be featured the weekend I was there. Gambling and potentially losing tons of cash and getting nothing? Sucks. Dropping some cash on a luxurious room, spa treatments, delish food and drink? Far more my speed in my 30s, it seems. Foxwoods boasts four hotels, 34 restaurants, two spas and seven casinos. You're sure to find something fabulous to do.

What's on Polly Blitzer's Vanity? Part 2
The What's On Your Vanity Series showcases a single beauty item a blogger loves because it's effective, but also she feels she must keep out on top of her vanity because the gorgeous packaging must be displayed.
Dolls, part two of Polly's on-vanity beauty story, in her words. Missed part 1? Read it here.
A bottle of Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere has a standing spot on my vanity. One spritz in the morning gives me a full day of heady floral joosh. A couple of years ago, Chanel brought me to their annual jasmine harvest in Grasse, France. After feeling drunk on jasmine for 4 days and watching the production of No. 5 from bloom to bottle, I get transported to the fields every time I take a whiff in my far-less-exotic NYC apartment.
Love it! Tell me: Are you a Chanel No.5 fan?

The Tiffany & Co. Engagement Ring iPhone App
It makes zero sense for my former hopeless romantic sensibility to be stimulated by this. I've been living (and dating) in New York too long (read: eight years) where men you meet either a) never ask for your number or b) deign to involve you in their harem. Both options suck, and for that reason, I choose to date men who live elsewhere or simply involve myself in various and sundry vampire fiction, like any sane woman who fancies herself a person to BE fancied, rather than a pursuer of men here to sweep them off their feet. Vampires, as you know, are always much older (i.e., over 100) and carry over rituals from a dating culture that's much less vomitatious. But I digress. Perhaps Tiffany & Co.'s Engagement Ring iPhone app was designed expressly for that purpose--breaking through the barriers of MAJOR jadedness. It somehow dismembers my raging intolerance of all things marital brought on by stories of girls that I know and girls that I only read about in The New York Times Style Section throwing themselves at single dudes as if each one was the last man on earth while single women in the city are as common as sand on the beach. Why? Because Tiffany engagement rings are special. Just looking at them restores my 2002 dating sensibility--if just for a moment.
The app includes an accurate Ring Sizer, the first tool of its kind from a jeweler, that lets users determine their size by placing an actual ring directly on the screen and aligning it with the correct circle in the guide. Pretty genius. You can also browse the collection according to shape, setting, metal or design. The rings are shown true-to-size and each style can be viewed with diamonds of six different carat sizes. So basically, a scale of your musician boyfriend's salary to JLo circa Bennifer. You can then zoom in on a ring’s details, pair the rings with wedding bands, and save or share your favorites with your friends via e-mail, Facebook® and Twitter. Whether you're looking to buy or receive a Tiffany engagement ring, this app will make the process easier--and fun.

The American Association of Cosmetology Schools Partners with Ted Gibson to Launch "Beauty Changes Lives"
Are you dying to make your living in the beauty industry? As someone stuck in finance for years who managed to break into this industry obliquely, I can certainly appreciate the value of advocating beauty education and building your career from an early age. My mane man Ted Gibson absolutely agrees and has collaborated with The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) to be their new spokesperson for “Beauty Changes Lives.” The new initiative is focused on raising awareness of the rewards and opportunities offered by beauty and wellness careers.
The Beauty Changes Lives Website boasts career information, profiles of iconic personalities in the hair, beauty and wellness industry, and information on education opportunities. Says Ted (pictured at left with The AACS president Lynelle Lynch), “Who would have thought as a beauty school graduate I’d be able to travel the world, work with A-list celebrities, open salons and mentor the next generation of hair dressers. My career has allowed me to fulfill my dreams and build a beauty empire.” That he has. With a spot on successful TV show What Not to Wear, his own salon and his own line of products (just SOME of his accomplishments), he shows the world a truly fabulous example of what's possible with an education in beauty.
Congrats, Ted!

Jones New York Fall Campaign: Q&A with Princess of Powder Gucci Westman
Jones New York recently celebrated the brand's 38-year history of dressing women for success in each of life’s moments. As part of the festivities, Jones New York’s fall campaign is all about Empowering Your Confidence. The campaign began with exclusive photography session in Grand Central Terminal with Annie Leibovitz a couple of weeks ago. The famed photographer shot the modern American woman, aiming to capture the spirit, strength and beauty of working women. I had the opportunity to interview with makeup artist, Gucci Westman, who, with Annie, was one of the many talented collaborators to help shape this campaign shoot.

What's on Lara Shriftman's Vanity?
The What's On Your Vanity Series showcases a single beauty item an industry insider loves because it's effective, but also she feels she must keep out on top of her vanity because the gorgeous packaging must be displayed. Who better to ask about beauty essentials than than party gal Lara Shriftman, author of Party Confidential and partner of PR firm, Harrison & Shriftman? Lara has been involved in the entertainment industry for over a decade and is familiar with a ton of beauty and fashion shortcuts and tricks. For easy hair care, here's what Lara recommends, in her words:
Moroccanoil is my absolute favorite. It is an Argan oil blend based with natural elements, antioxidants, and is rich in vitamins that strengthen and fortify hair. This oil is alsoa UV protector. Because I generally wear my hair curly in between blow outs, Moroccanoil is great for keeping my waves tamed. Without a blow dryer or curling iron my hair looks naturally put together. This product is one of the few I like to keep on my vanity. The bottle is chic and I love the bright orange and turquoise colors.
