Kim Kardashian Loves Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara

Kim Kardashian is a major fan of Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara! Kim KNOWS from lashes, friends. I'm gonna have to try this stuff out. This just in from her blog:

"I went for my first eyebrow shaping with Anastasia last week and wow, do I love my brows!!! She is the queen of eyebrows! When I went to her salon I discovered this new Lash Lifting Mascara that is incredible! I swear, I literally need one coat and my eyelashes have so much volume and curl. Usually I feel like I have to keep applying coats to build up volume, but this mascara is perfect!!! It has hard waxes and synthetic polymers in that help build lashes to give volume."

Kim got the mascara at Anastasia Salon in Beverly Hills
Anastasia Beverly Hills
438 North Bedford Drive
Beverly Hills 90210
Tel: (310) 273-3155

You can also get it at Sephora, and Nordstrom.

More Q&A With Mad Men Makeup Department Head Lana Horochowski

Hey, dolls! Remember I interviewed Mad Men Makeup Department Head Lana Horochowski a few months ago? Well, you and I both know I can't get enough MM, and as luck would have it, MAC sent some more deets to my inbox today after doing their own Q&A with the famed makeup artist. Check it:

Q: You’re the new department head at Mad Men for Season 3, will you be making any changes to any characters makeup?

A: Since we are moving a little forward into the future, we have changed up the color palette for each character to go along with the time period.

Q: When you were preparing for this season, did you do any research for inspiration? If so, what most inspired you?

A: Weeks and weeks of meetings and research. I love looking through the old magazines. They are a great reference and a huge source of inspiration; however, we do try to keep the characters looking like real people that do their own makeup and not like movie stars with a makeup artist standing by. Magazines and old movies are a great guideline for a basic look and color selection.

Q: How would you describe the looks of each one of the characters? How do they differ?

A: Joan Holloway- always put together, very sassy and sexy

Betty Draper- although she is a housewife she is an ex-model, so her makeup is clean but very current for the period

Peggy Olson- Peggy is a young and fresh faced business woman of that period, she wears very clean, natural makeup

Q: What are your key products for creating the makeup looks for the main female characters?

A: Joan Holloway- We do a heavier eye on Christina, so the key products would be eyeliner and strip lashes.

Betty Draper- Betty has 2 distinct looks, her at home look and her going out/evening look. For home, she is very natural, basically a sheer foundation, think black eyeliner and mascara. Evening Betty goes a little thicker on the liner and a brighter lipstick, but aalways coordinated with her clothing.

Peggy Olson- Since the key to Peggy’s look is to appear as though she is wearing no makeup, a great foundation is super important. Also, a natural cheek and lip stain is applied to give her a little color.

Q: What are your favorite M·A·C products for each character?

A: Joan Holloway- Cream Colour Base in Virgin Isle, Fluidline in Blacktrack and Rich Ground, brown and black, and Eye Shadow in Soft Brown.

Betty Draper- Cream Colour Base in Virgin Isle, Blushcreme in Posey, and Lipsticks in Vegas Volt, Lip Pencil in Redd and Cherry

Peggy Olson- Eye Shadow in Orb, Vanilla, and Soft Brown and Blot Powder

Q: Everyone always notices the lips on the show, but brows seem to play a very important part to the look. Can you talk about the brows on the show?

A: Women of the 60's had a stricter code of style and etiquette, so people tended to follow the trends closer to the book. Nowadays, women have a variety of different brow styles so we are constantly tweezing, shaping, and filling the brows to recreate the look of the period.

Q: Each character has the most perfect lashes framing her eyes. What are your favorite lashes to use to get that perfectly plump line of lashes?

A: We love the M·A·C individual lashes as well as the traditional strip lashes.

Q: Do you collaborate with the hair and costume departments when coming up with a look?

A: Absolutely! We have at least 3 meetings per episode to create the look as a unit. I could not do this show without Lucia Mace (hair), Janie Bryant (costumes), and my fabulous key Ron Pipes!

Q: There seems to be a lot of making out on the show, how many times do you have to redo those red lips? Does it get messy?

A: We do what we can to seal the lip color, but we still have to go in every take to perform a minor clean up.

Q: What can real women take away from the show’s look and incorporate into their everyday look?

A: Well, a great start would be lining the top lash line only with a gel liner like M·A·C Fluidline. We love this product for recreating the perfect '60s eye. Also, replacing gloss and sheer or shimmer lipsticks with matte reds, bright pinks, and corals help create a more retro look. Lastly, instead of a powder blush try using creme in pinks and corals to create a flushed looking cheek. For evening, strip lashes are always a bonus.

Do you LOVE it??? Thanks, MAC, for supplying me with Mad Men makeup deets!

No One At Westerberg Is Going To Let You Play Their Reindeer Games in THOSE Tights. Invest in Spanx.

Pour yourself a tall glass of mineral water, this is gonna be a long post. As you know, I'm a longtime Spanx Tight-End Tights fan. They last foreVER (to be said in the voice of that kid from The Sandlot). So naturally, I need to introduce to the line's new fall colors paying homage to that piece of cinematic genius, Heathers. I learned from Heathers how to navigate a clique and that before you motor to the Remington party, perhaps you enjoy a quick round of croquet. Remember the EPIC tights in that movie? Channel Heather Chandler and rock some of Spanx's 16 new shades of Heathers-hued hosiery for fall, all available this month. Here are four of the new shades:

Lipstick

Cabernet

Deep Sea
Midnight

Because not to take part in these tights in gorgeous hues would be CHAOTIC. And chaos was what killed the dinosaurs, darling. So what's your damage, Heather? If you don't like it, you can transfer to Washington. Transfer to Jefferson.

Spanx Tight-End Tights retail for $26 at Spanx.com

Get The Look: Jessica Lucas at the Melrose Place Premiere Party

Celeb makeup artist Brett Freedman created a gorge look for Jessica Lucas for the premiere party of the WB's new Melrose Place this past weekend. Am I the only gal who cannot freaking WAIT for this? I'm anxiously awaiting the KIMBERLY SHAW TAKES OFF THE WIG moment of the post-millennium edish of MP. You?

Since Jessica plays the good gal of the building (the Courtney Thorne-Smith character's vibe from the original) she wanted to get a little nicely naughty for the red carpet. Setting the stage with a cleavage baring black leather mini dress Brett worked to make the gal next door look more like the gal guys WISHED lived next door. Enter the sweet vixen...

Foundation: LORAC Natural Performance in Light Tan and Tan
Brett wanted a finish that gave Jessica's flawless face a little framing so he used two subtly different shades. He used the darker shade along her jawline, up the sides of her face and along the hairline. Then he used the lighter shade down the middle of her face. This trick sets the stage for her eyes.

Loose Powder: COVER GIRL TruBlend in Translucent Honey
This finely milled powder leaves. Never flat or too matte.

Concealer: LAURA MERCIER Secret Camouflage in SC-4
Brett tend to use a lot of duo products for skin. It lets you customize the end result with the ease of two shades in the same formulation. He used the deeper shade all over to perfect Jess' under eye area. Brett then took the lighter shade just along her lash line and the inner eye to give extra crispness and brighten.

Brows: VANITYMARK Ultra-Brow Pencil in Dark Choco
Any time Brett do a very ornate eye make-up, he ensures the brows can hold their own against the vividness. Jess' arches got optimum definition by filling in between hairs with this shade that is one step lighter than her actual brows. This adds structure and drama. Brett actually made her brows a touch fuller by defining them slightly above her actual brow line. He then blended with a spoolie to feather and soften so it was undetectable where her brow ends and the theatrics begin.

Brow Gel: VANITYMARK Ultra-Brow Glaze in Acrylica
To further the fullness Brett brushed the brows up and out with a touch of brow glaze. Gives gorgeous crispness and polish to her arches.

Eyeshadow: JEMMA KIDD quad in Plum
Brett loves the range in this quad and wanted to give Jessica a smoky eye with a outward, structured sweep. Brett chose plums for the eyes mainly because it went well with a berry/violet lip. He used the darkest shadow shade with a wet brush on the outer corners to give a crisp line that once dried, you could blend/soften with a pointed brush. The lightest shade has a touch of shimmer so it worked great on her brow bone to highlight.

Liquid liner: WET 'n WILD MegaLiner in Black Brett likes the tiny brush, it makes extending the liner easier to build on. He took Jessica's eyes to their vampiest by taking the 'wing' up and out to the max. This is the easiest way to sex up your eye for night!

Lashes: VANITYMARK The LASH Mascara in Blackest and Faux Lashes: ARDELL #120 in black
Brett loves the way this style gets a touch longer at the ends and the hairs are slightly sparse so the natural lashes can mix in seamlessly. Brett gives faux lashes a pump with the lash curler once the glue is dry to 'marry' them with the natural lashes. Then apply a coat of mascara over to comb and blend them together further. This extra step is not a time saver but it's def priceless!

Lipstick: MAC in Up the Amp
This lavender-ish shade gives lips a flush of modern pigment without the heaviness of other lipsticks.

Gloss: BENEFIT in Clear Fuchsia
To give a little bad girl shine Brett used a this shade to 'warm up' the lipstick and give a juicy cast of color.

Body Glisten: VANITYMARK Shimmerskin in Champagne Shimmer Brett gave Jessica's beautiful late summer glow a light catching amp-up. He used this cool/golden hued shimmer spray on all exposed skin and a touch extra on her shoulders, collar bones and down the front of legs to make them more pronounced for maximum pop. It's coconut scented so it fit the oh-so-sexy feeling in the air.

I'm no fan of celeb scents, but I do like to be involved in whatever Kim Kardashian is.

Today’s Women’s Wear Daily reports that the reality star has inked a deal with beauty firm Lighthouse Beauty. Her first fragrance is expected to launch in spring 2010.

Says Kim, “Collaborating with Lighthouse Beauty was a really creative, innovative process,” said Kardashian. “What’s’ so different about their approach is that they have worked so closely with me on all aspects of my fragrance, the bottle, the juice...so I can develop a product that truly represents me and speaks to my fans....the fragrance really captures who I am.”
