Three Custom Color Specialists will be offering free concealer samples with any online order (no minimum purchase) through April 23. Three Custom Color is one of my fave brands, dolls. Their Watercolours for Cheeks in Wallflower is a staple in my makeup bag.
This versatile concealer formulation is a favorite of makeup artists and consumers. Use it full coverage to conceal redness or dark circles, apply with a wet sponge to use as a foundation or blend with your favorite face cream to create the perfect tinted moisturizer.
Three Custom Color feels so strongly that everyone should use their Crème Concealer/Foundation that they invite you to request samples of up to three different shades with any online order. Just indicate which shades you would like to try in Customer Notes during checkout and get flawless!
Enjoy!

Celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali created the look for America Ferrera at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday night. I ADORE the color of her pinky-red dress. Here's the scoop, straight from Vanessa, on how to re-create America's glamorous look.
First, before applying any makeup, Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme Genifique, a youth activating concentrate that improves tone, texture and luminosity giving the skin a natural glow. To create a flawless complexion, Vanessa used both Lancôme Effacernes concealer and Armani Lasting Silk UV SPF 20 Foundation. She used Armani Fluid Sheer #2 as a highlighter and applied it with her finger to the cheekbone and brow bone. This gave the complexion a bit of added shimmer. Lancôme Color Design Cream Blush in Pret a Plum was applied to the apples of the cheeks for just a pop of color. Shu Uemura Cream Eye Shadow in Beige was lightly dusted on the eyelid and Lancôme Artliner in Noir was applied to the upper lash line. Several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation mascara were applied to the lashes for added length and volume. To compliment America's pinky/coral frock, Lancôme La Laque Fever gloss in Cyber Coral and Techno Brick were mixed together to create a high-shine pout.

“Vanessa’s look was really fun and more casual then most red carpet events. Her accessories and outfit were really rock and roll inspired so we went for a fun, smokey eye and a pretty shimmer to the skin,” says Mitchell
“For her glowing skin we began with Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Liquid Makeup in Tan, and 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes in Medium. Then, I set that with the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation in natural beige.”
“By applying a bit of concealer to the lid first, you can achieve a great base for eyeshadow. We used the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Concealer Kit in Medium on Vanessa. It gives a really natural coverage. For the eyeshadow, I chose the Neutrogena Nourishing Quad in Moonlit violet. I used the silvery highlight shade in the palette on the inside of the top and bottom of the eye. The crease (wine) and accent (smoke) colors from the quad were blended at the outside of the lid corners blending out and up into the crease. I also lined the eye underneath with the crease wine color.”
“Then I lined the entire eye with Neutrogena Nourishing Eyeliner in Cosmic Black, and I brushed brows with a soft toothbrush and filled in with accent color from the Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Quad in Sea Shell – it made the perfect brow powder. Finally, we curled the lashes and added four coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black.”

Rock musical HAIR will open on Broadway tomorrow evening and Bumble and bumble partnered with the sold-out production by the Public Theater last summer, and will continue its support for the Broadway run. Bumble and bumble editorial hairstylist Rolando Beauchamp, who has worked with Mary Kate Olsen, Kristen Davis and Christina Applegate, provides some styling tips for anyone who wants to get this loose, natural flower child look that’s great for spring:
For wavy or curly hair:
The key is keeping the hair’s natural texture, just helping it out with some product that gives it some support. Spritz Bb Surf Spray ($22) onto damp hair, and work about a quarter size amount of Bb Styling Creme ($23) into hair, mid-shaft to ends. The combination of Surf Spray and Styling Creme gives the right texture – a bit dry, not greasy. Dry with a diffuser or let air dry if it is warm out. The key is not to brush or comb out, just finger style and let it be free!
For straight hair:
Begin just like curly/wavy technique with Bb. Surf Spray and Styling Creme, but you’ll need at waves to the hair. Using a 1 inch barrel curling iron, take 1 inch diameter sections of hair and roughly wrap the hair around the iron. The goal is to create bends and waves in the hair, not perfect curls. Then scrunch the section up and pin to the head. Continue curling sections, wrapping the hair in alternating directions, then scrunching and pinning the sections until the entire head is pinned up. Let the hair set for a few minutes, then undo sections. Don’t brush the sections out, just finger style.

This weekend, I dedicated a large portion of my time for beautifying my lifestyle. First on the list was a DIY mani/pedi with my new fave spring shade, CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Orange Fizz. It's been a long time since I've been so obsessed with a hue that I wanted it on my tips AND my toes, but this one is worth it. It's the love child of creamsicle and peach in a glossy, opaque, creamy texture. My toes think they should be on the beach instead of on 23rd Street.
Yesterday, I headed over for my favorite diamond-in-the-rough stylist Matthew James at Sam Brocato to cut my hair for an economical $85. His blow-outs are the best. Even Sam's (the owner of the salon) wife Holly agrees. She came by to say hi while I was there and informed me that he'd done her mane, which looked quite fab and voloisturized. She also told me she'd gotten some extensions woven in simply for color. Great idea, n'est-ce pas?
Lastly, I took advantage of living solo and self-tanned after I'd exfoliated. I used a tip from my pal Dina: I slathered on the scrub before turning on the water in the shower, rubbed it in well, and THEN turned on the shower and rinsed off pre-cleansing. This ensures velvety-smooth skin as you aren't negating the whole process by having the product rinse off in the stream before it does its job. Genius. Now, I've done that with my facial scrubs, but never with my body versions. Do try it out; you'll love love love. I reaquainted myself with an old fave, Borghese Sali Esfoliante Salt Scrub ($38).

Oh hello, dolls!
In other news, I have to report that the worst part about moving is packing and unpacking dishes wrapped in newspaper. Have we discussed this? The feel of newspaper to me is the tactile equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. I HATE it. I could barely touch the newspaper article I wrote myself. It's dry and vile AND it leaves a black mess all over your hands. I found myself washing my hands every 3-5 minutes and was glad that my in-rotation hand wash, Essie Purifying Hand Wash ($15) stood up to the task. I lurve its natural, botanical formula that moisturizes with essential oils. Its scent is light, but present enough that I feel de-newsprintified.
Good news, girls. Getting a discount on Kérastase is almost as rare as finding a unicorn in your backyard, to quote Annie of Blogdorf Goodman.
Hi, dolls!
This week, I'm all about exfoliating.

Gals, I haven't had a "real tan" since Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were an item.
That's why I'm so into Jergens' new “Glow in the Dark” Campaign—a crusade to encourage women to give up their harmful tanning routines in favor of safe alternatives that let you glow without the sun. For the second year in a row, Jergens' skincare team has partnered with The Skin Cancer Foundation to raise awareness about getting a glow without the sun.
To spread the word about the safe way to glow, one of my fave actresses, Rachel Bilson, has pledged to “Glow in the Dark” this summer, not in the sun. The star of “Jumper,” “The Last Kiss” and the upcoming film “New York I Love You,” set to hit theaters in the fall, Bilson is committed to raising awareness about healthy ways to get glowing as well as protecting her own skin by eschewing the sun. To join her, log on to jergens.com and pledge to get your glow in the dark.
For every pledge made, Jergens skincare will donate a pre-determined amount* to The Skin Cancer Foundation. By doing your skin a favor and glowing safely this summer, you’ll be helping save others’ skin, too.
Jergens' offerings include:
For a radiant complexion with uva / uvb SPF protection, use Jergens® natural glow Healthy Complexion Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 20. This collection is to die, beauties. I don't typically love a blue, but Essie has nailed it this time with her new limited edition North Fork Collection. They're subtle, grayed-off, dreamy blues evocative of a Long Island boat ride. Appropriately enough, The North Fork Collection is named for the quaint vacation villages perched around the waters of Long Island’s East End .
“The new nail colors remind me of the most beautiful blues that surround The North Fork,” says Essie Weingarten. “Tranquil yet playful, the colors cross over in fashion and in nature.”
Greenport, Sag Harbor and Shelter Island, each named after areas around The North Fork and Long Island Sound, are an homage to the beauty of nature.
GREENPORT - Dreamy aquamarine paradise
SAG HARBOR - Cool silver blue
SHELTER ISLAND - Sky blue radiance
The North Fork Collection is a limited-edition collection, available beginning April 2009 at http://essie.com/ and fine spas, salons and beauty destinations worldwide. $9 each.
Friends know this about me: I never met a ruffle I didn't like.
This Dani Ruffle Boot ($100) from Free People is haunting me. HAUNTING. I know it's going to be one of those things I think about years later, plagued by the OPPOSITE of buyer's remorse. Its hidden wedge heel enchants me. I'd rock it with the shirt above and have a whole ruffle SITUATION. It IS on sale. Just saying.
Lastly, I present thee with the Cha Cha Entourage Bag in Blueberry ($365 - just a dollar a day for a YEAR, right?) I mean, DEATH. Truly, it's not exactly ruffled, but its nonlinear silhouette is EVOCATIVE of a ruffle, right? If this bag graced my closet, it'd surely be the Vincent Chase amongst the other Dramas, Turtles, and Es in my wardrobe. The braided straps are PRESH, n'est-ce pas? I normally don't love to rock blue (I sort of live in a warmer palette), but this cornflower-purple hybrid awakens something in my very SOUL.
