Fake it with Origins' The Great Pretender and Faux Glow

Sunday, December 09, 2007

OK, I'm back. I've been laying low all week, missing my friend Ramon, feeling as if I don't even DESERVE to call myself Fabulista, but you know what? I decided I'm tired of looking like one of the castmembers of Village of the Damned and got it together and self-tanned the heck out of myself and I feel WAY better. My friend Stephanie supplied me with Origins The Great Pretender, a spearmint-smelling body tanner, and Faux Glow, a face self-tanner. Both are oil-free, non-acnegenic, and immediately warmed my lilywhite pallor. Both products are tinted and rub in SUPER easily, with.. wait for it... NO streaks, something I've never encountered before from a tanning product. Some have fewer streaks, it's true. But Origins' tanners yield NONE. I love both for creating a realistic, light, subtly shimmery (but in no way cheesy) glow for winter. It's not as much oomph as I'd like for summer (for that, I'm still sticking with Lancome Flash Bronzer Airbrush) but it's perf for fair gals like me who become fishbelly-white pretty much at the exact second Eastern Standard Time commences. $17.50 for each.

In other news, I can't wait for The Hills tomorrow (could it finally be the end of Speidi?) and am DYING to see Juno with my fave actor Michael Cera. Oh, and now that I've finally caught up on last week's shows, can I please mention that I think Nick Pepper and Amanda Tanen are the best TV couple since Winnie Cooper and Kevin Arnold. Only, you know, more nefarious or something. I'm so into it.

Hello FAB-You always deserve to call yourself Fabulista!

Self Tanner is a good thing my friend. Thick socks, good wine, and self tanner can do wonders for the soul. I do not think I have ever tried Faux Glow--I will give it a try.

Ok--I have never watched The Hills, but I cannot look through US Weekly without Speidi's mugs everywhere.
I want to see JUNO too. I just ordered Superbad from Amazon--and it should arrive today--which is good because here in Chicago we are going to be ICED IN, so I will need movies to watch.
Oh and I totes loved Winnie and Kevin. I still love Kevin.
I heard Winnie is a math professor--who knew?

I am glad you are feeling better sweet face.
Much love from Chicago!

oh and PS--I have looked EVERYWHERE for the chestnut body butter from The Body Shop and I can find it NOWHERE. I find the plum holiday one and the cranberry holiday one, but NO CHESTNUT ONE?

Advice for a weary chestnut body butter searcher oh Fabulous one?

THANKS!

Hi P,

Hope you're staying warm in the windy city! I love Chicago, BTW. I was there last year for New Years.

I think thick socks, good wine and self-tanner are pretty much the makings of civilization. I mean, can one BE a civilized person without all three? I think not.

So jeal that you will shortly own Superbad.

I got my chestnut BB as a PR freebie... and it does look like they're not selling it in stores, which is super annoying. I checked eBay though, you may be able to get it there, if you're so inclined. It is worth it, I love the way it smells.

Have an excellent Monday, thanks for your well wishes!

xoxo
