Apparently, there is a phenomenon sweeping beauty blogs regarding the "holy grail" mascara. I take mascara VERY seriously. As in, it is my "desert island" product. My 3 faves range from high-end to medium to cheaper than dirt.
1. Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara: I like this one the best. It provides volume and length. It mystically allows you to make your lashes as long as you'd like with multiple applications. Simply amazing and it's only $13.50.
2. Guerlain Divinora Supercils Mascara: I would never pay for an expensive mascara when Jane exists (see below) but my friend in beauty PR bestowed this indulgent gift upon me and I ADORE it. It clearly defines lashes and never gets gunky and clumpy. The brush is a bit flimsy, but it serves its purpose. It's $25.00 but worth it.
3. Jane Fanclub Waterproof: I can't seem to find Jane anywhere anymore, but it is my favorite cheap drugstore brand. This mascara costs about $3.00 but looks like a million bucks on. It gives your lashes a kicky curl as well.
One more thing: I do NOT get the obsession with Maybelline Great Lash AT ALL. It looks positively vomitatious on me. I don't understand how it catapulted to fame.
Jane IS incredibly hard to find, but I find Wal-mart tends to stock it. I believe Jane still has its website. Also, I recently found Jane products at Walgreens, which is odd. Walgreens hadn't stocked them for years, and then all of a sudden, there was a new display of Jane cosmetics. Good luck on your search!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about the Great Lash. It goes on clumpy and makes my lashes look short and squat.
I don't see the fascination with Great Lash either. I bought a tube based on "all the makeup artists recommend it". It did absolutley nothing for my lash.
ReplyDeleteI'm on a personal mascara hunt. I have oily skin and all the mascaras I've tried (including some waterproof) end up smudging under my eyes by the afternoon.
I've tried the great lash, and i didn't like it either I prefer Unstoppable also by Maybelline is the best I've used so far I swear by it.
ReplyDeleteI personally like Great Lash Waterproof. It holds the curl my eyelash curler gives me very well. I have tried other brands that give me more length, but I lose the curl right away. I'd love to find a drugstore brand that lenghtens better AND holds the curl, but haven't yet. Must brands I try seem to weigh down the curl like I never curled them and the results are very sad.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I heat my curler with a blow dryer first or else it makes very little difference!
Any tips?
Buy the Shu Uemera Eyelash Curler from Sephora (about $13). Done. Your curl is going NOWHERE after that. Follow with Dior Show Mascara, it's my NEW FAVE.
